South Windsor Soccer Club was started in 1987 to offer soccer programs to the youth of South Windsor. That first year had over 300 players registered. Today there are over one thousand youths of all abilities playing in a variety of soccer programs including recreation soccer, “rec travel”, TOPSoccer and Travel.

A committed group of town residents and employees banded together in March 2003 to initiate the Boundless Playground project. This grassroots committee continues to lead the effort, joined by an ever-growing list of volunteers who are working in many areas to ensure its success.

Our mission as a chartered Troop of the Boy Scouts of America is to provide an educational program for boys and young adults to build character, to train in the responsibilities of participating citizenship, and to develop personal fitness.

Boy Scout Troop 186 -- Our Scout troop offers adventure, achievement
and fun to middle school and high school boys. Troop 186 combines the
fun and excitement of traditional Scouting activities, such as
camping and hiking, with the spirit of learning and achievement
reflected in merit badges and rank advancement.

The South Windsor Community Band of South Windsor, CT, first began playing in 1995 when about 15 people dusted off their clarinets in the attic, borrowed a tuba and some drums and started playing again...some people after more than 35 years since their high school band days! Today the band is some 50 strong and rehearses every Thursday night.

The South Windsor Community Chorus originally began in 1971 as "Friends of Music". Bobbi Reeves (Director) and Karen Krinjak (Accompanist) volunteered their services to help raise money for uniforms for the South Windsor (CT) High School Band.
From then, we have grown into a well-organized community-based organization that has a Board of Directors that include a President, Vice President, Business Manager, Secretary, Treasurer, Librarian, Fundraising Chairperson, Membership Chairperson, as well as a Music Director and Pianist.
For our performances, we have many volunteers from the membership that help coordinate the many details necessary to produce a well-run concert. Each major performance has a reception following the program. The reception is an opportunity for us to meet our audience, friends and supporters

Cheney Tech enrolls students from a diverse twenty-six-town region that includes the urban areas of East Hartford, Hartford, and Bloomfield to the suburban and rural towns of Manchester, Glastonbury, Vernon, Ellington, and Coventry.
Our students can select a major program of study from a catalog of eleven different technologies.

The purpose of the South Windsor Historical Society is to seek, acquire, maintain, research and display objects pertaining to local history such as, but not limited to, artifacts, relics, books, manuscripts, oral histories, and genealogical data in order to preserve these for future generations and also utilize these for educational purposes; to provide information when possible for the preservation and marking of historic sites and buildings; to acquire by gift, purchase, or otherwise, real and personal property; to use and/or manage such property in any legal manner as the Society deems appropriate; to provide educational programs of general historical interest for the public; to carry on all activities appropriate for a historical society.

In 1926 William Wood chose Hartford architect William Marchant to design a Library as a memorial to his parents, Dr. William Wood and Mary Ellsworth Wood. From its dedication in 1928 until the early 70s, Wood served as the Town's Public Library. In 1971, the Friends of Wood Memorial Library incorporated to oversee its operation as a privately funded library. Now, with the help of part-time staff members and a corps of dedicated volunteers, the library serves the public throughout the year.

The Community Child Guidance Clinic is a private, non-profit mental health agency offering diagnostic, treatment and consultation services to children up to the age of 18 and their families. The Clinic serves families whose children or adolescents are experiencing emotional, social behavior or academic problems.

Since 1990, the South Windsor Jaycees have been bringing young people together to make a difference not only in the community, but also in the lives of their members. Our goal is to teach leadership skills through community service. The chapter coordinates a wide variety of events throughout the year to meet the needs of both the community and our members.
